This time of night was once quiet. I expected it to change when Gretchen arrived. I did not expect William and Elisabeth to be the ones crying or up more than her. It seems our middle Tweedles have acquired an internal alarm that goes off, waking them to call out to Daddy and Mommy, while their baby sister is actually sleeping.
This is only a season of our lives though, and it will go by too quickly. As Jen remarked tonight, before we know it William will be in high school keeping us up for bigger reasons than getting out of his bed. Therefore, I will cherish him getting up and coming to our bedroom wearing his Superman pajamas and carrying his Pooh stuffed animal. I will also cherish Elisabeth crying and calling my name after William finally goes to sleep. And I will cherish Robert being the only child to fall asleep and sleep through the chaos every night.
This being said, children, please go to sleep right now. All of you.
Love, Daddy
