The Working Mom

13 Oct

My lovely wife has started a new blog series on our family blog, LifeIsFunWithKids.com. I’m excited to see where this takes her and I’m very proud of her first post, Staying strong amidst the chaos.

Though the World is Fast Asleep

10 Jul

This time of night was once quiet. I expected it to change when Gretchen arrived. I did not expect William and Elisabeth to be the ones crying or up more than her. It seems our middle Tweedles have acquired an internal alarm that goes off, waking them to call out to Daddy and Mommy, while their baby sister is actually sleeping.

This is only a season of our lives though, and it will go by too quickly. As Jen remarked tonight, before we know it William will be in high school keeping us up for bigger reasons than getting out of his bed. Therefore, I will cherish him getting up and coming to our bedroom wearing his Superman pajamas and carrying his Pooh stuffed animal. I will also cherish Elisabeth crying and calling my name after William finally goes to sleep. And I will cherish Robert being the only child to fall asleep and sleep through the chaos every night.

This being said, children, please go to sleep right now. All of you.

Love, Daddy

Sleepless Beauty

Dearest Elisabeth,

Thank you for sleeping in this morning. I would also like it if you would go back to sleeping through the night. I know once your sister gets here that she will be waking up often, so please let Daddy and Mommy save our restless nights until then. I do love the extra cuddles you give me when I am in your room at night. Thank you for being so snuggly. While my arms must be a nice place for you to sleep, your rocking chair isn’t the most comfortable place for me to sleep. I love you, pretty girl.

Love, Daddy

What types of blog posts do you enjoy reading the most?

Kind of a big deal

I am very excited to announce that MagicalDaddy.com is now featured on Alltop!  I received an email from Alltop this morning letting me know that my blog has been added to the Parenting topic on their website.

Here is a screenshot from Alltop’s Top Parenting News page:

We’re featured on Alltop!

The purpose of Alltop is to help you answer the question, “What’s happening?” in “all the topics” that interest you… You can think of Alltop as the “online magazine rack” of the web. We’ve subscribed to thousands of sources to provide “aggregation without aggravation.” To be clear, Alltop pages are starting points—they are not destinations per se. Ultimately, our goal is to enhance your online reading by displaying stories from sources that you’re already visiting plus helping you discover sources that you didn’t know existed.
